Genes Control Everything

Every biological process in the human body begins with gene expression.

  • Collagen synthesis.
  • Inflammation.
  • Oxidative stress response.
  • Cellular repair.
  • Barrier formation.
  • Ageing pathways.

Genes determine which proteins are produced, when they are produced and how much is produced.

But genes are not fixed instructions.

They are regulated.

What Is Epigenetics?

Epigenetics refers to changes in gene expression without altering the genetic code itself

Genes can be upregulated or downregulated depending on environmental influences

Not like a simple on or off switch.

More like a dimmer switch

This regulation determines whether inflammation escalates or resolves.
Whether collagen degrades or rebuilds.
Whether ageing accelerates or slows.

What Is Nutritional Epigenetics?

Nutrigenomics is nutritional epigenetics. It is the science of how food and nutrients modify gene expression

Diet is not simply fuel.

It is genetic instruction.

Specific nutrients and plant compounds can:

  • Modify DNA methylation
  • Alter histone structure
  • Influence non-coding RNA
  • Activate or silence transcription factors

This is where skin health, ageing and inflammatory disorders are truly influenced.

Why This Matters for Health and Aesthetic Professionals?

Whether you work in nutrition, functional medicine or aesthetics, your clients present with outcomes that are driven by gene expression:

  • Photoageing & skin-ageing in general
  • Inflammaging
  • Collagen degradation
  • Psoriasis
  • Eczema
  • Barrier dysfunction
  • Telomere shortening

If you understand how genes are regulated, you work at the root level.

If you do not, you are working downstream.

Are there any ongoing fees or software costs?

Yes. While there are no ongoing fees payable to us after enrolment, you will need to use 2 third-party tools to work efficiently and deliver professional-level client services.

1. Cronometer

You will need a Cronometer account to analyse client dietary intake. Cronometer offers a free version, which is suitable for basic use. However, for maximum efficiency and more advanced dietary analysis features, a Cronometer Pro account is recommended. You can view Cronometer Pro pricing here:
https://cronometer.com/pro/

2. Dietary Skin-Ageing Score (DSAS)
The Dietary Skin-Ageing Score (DSAS) is an advanced proprietary assessment tool developed and owned by us. It is delivered via specialist assessment software which securely hosts the tool and transforms client data into a comprehensive, practitioner-ready report.

To use DSAS at practitioner level — including access to the automatically generated, downloadable client PDF reports — you will need access to the professional business-level software plan used to run DSAS (currently $99 per month).

These PDFs are a core part of the professional workflow taught in the diploma and are where DSAS really shines. Each report is generated instantly and essentially writes itself, providing clients with a clear, personalised breakdown that includes:

  • Their overall Dietary Skin-Ageing Score

  • The ageing pathways most strongly activated for them

  • A clear explanation of each pathway, what it means, and why it matters

  • The client’s individual score for each pathway

  • Practical, nutrition-focused steps they can take to reduce their score and support healthier skin ageing

This allows you to deliver a highly polished, evidence-informed client report in minutes, while still maintaining full professional oversight and interpretation.

Access to the correct software plan and setup instructions (including use of our partner access link) are provided to students during the training.

NB: Prices are correct at time of writing.

Please note: This is a high-level precision nutrition service and should be priced accordingly. A minimum fee of $250 USD per client is recommended, covering an in-depth consultation, full dietary audit and analysis, and the client’s personalised Dietary Skin-Ageing report. At this level, a single client per month comfortably covers the software investment.

  • Naturopathic Doctors

How will I use this Nutridermatology® knowledge with my own clients?

In many jurisdictions, particularly in the United States, the provision of personalised nutritional advice is legally restricted to Registered Dietitians, Registered Nutritionists or medical doctors. The distinction lies in the term personalised.

As many of our students come from non nutrition backgrounds, the Diploma includes an extensive library of licensed, ready to use educational materials that graduates may use with clients within a professional and legally appropriate framework.

These resources are designed to support practitioners in guiding clients towards nutritional strategies that promote healthy, resilient and rejuvenated skin without requiring a degree in Nutritional Medicine.

As with any client facing practice, graduates are responsible for understanding the legal and regulatory requirements of the country, state or locality in which they operate and for working strictly within their permitted scope of practice.

Is there a payment plan?

If you want to move through the diploma quickly at your own pace you need to choose the 'fast-track' option where you pay the fees in full.

You can also choose the 'pay as you go' option with a 12 month payment plan
  • Monthly payments required to maintain access
  • Graduation only available once balance is cleared
  • Certificate issued after final payment

On the payment form you need to select to pay using your credit card (this symbol  ) then you'll see a dropdown box where you can select either:
  • Pay once (pay in full)
  • Payment plan (using your card

Please note that students won't be allowed to graduate while in debt to Skin Nutrition Institute so if you select a 12 month payment plan you'll need to take the full 12 months to study as you won't be allowed to finish before your payment plan does.
